The Stair Way

The Stair Way is about getting to the top with steady steps. It's about willpower and the simple joy of walking in nature. By following the Stair Way, you trust that those who have climbed the path before you will lead you to spectacular views and peaks. Here in Mosjøen, you will need both good hiking shoes as well as shoes for city walking. Who knows, maybe even steppe shoes. For the next two days, you will explore the city’s rich history and culture by foot. What awaits you is to mention some; the mighty Øyfjell-mountain with its 4,000 steps up the Helgeland Staircase. The longest of its kind and a true work of art built by Sherpas from Nepal. The reward is a magnificent view that will take your breath away. You will most likely feel your pulse racing on the way down as well. The next two days, you will use this guide to experience this historic city that offers local culinary experiences, experience fantastic nature and get a good night's sleep in Northern Norway's oldest hotel. From the train station, you must first go up to and past Dolstad church and then on to Bygdetunet, where your host is waiting. Remember to bring footwear for several activities and get ready to experience a bit of everything right here in Mosjøen. - Enjoy your trip!

The Starting point

From here, your walk down to the city-center and the historic Sjøgata starts. From this bridge you are now standing, simply follow the road further through the underpass, past the petrol station and to the large brick building which is the Town Hall of Vefsn. Look around for a woman in the town hall park. She will be your next stop. If she doesn't respond to your polite greetings, it's because this woman is a statue.
